Applications Available For Westchester Seasonal Park Rangers

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y.--  The Westchester County Department of Public Protection is accepting applications for new periodic park rangers that will certainly watch region parks during the summertime.
Applications schedule by Feb. 21. Newbie park rangers are paid $14 per hour. Incomes are greater for those who have functioned previously as a ranger for the region, representatives claimed.

"Uniformed park rangers operate under the supervision of county police officers to maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere in the county's parks," representatives said. "They assist park users, provide information on park rules and procedures, help in searches for lost children, perform basic first aid on occasion and make regular security checks of buildings and facilities."

To certify, applicants need to be a high school graduate, at least 19 years old, an U.S. citizen, a resident of Westchester County and have a legitimate Nyc State driver's license by the time of session.

Accepted candidates have to go to a two-week training program at the Westchester Region Police Academy in, Valhalla, N.Y.

"Functioning under the supervision of county police, playground rangers aid to make certain that Westchester's playgrounds and pools are risk-free and pleasurable for those who use them," Public Security Commissioner George N. Longworth stated.

Longworth included that several law enforcement agents in Westchester, including himself, had their initial exposure to a police occupation by working as a periodic park ranger.
